Rhonda Davis - Special
Blessings
Pastor's Family
 |
We all have special
gifts or blessings, but some people seem to stand out from amongst the
rest because they don't realize just how special their blessing are to
those around them. They think they are just ordinary people.
This is the story of one very special lady. She is the wife of our
pastor. Meet Rhonda Davis and her special gift and blessing to
others. We at Wekiwa Springs Baptist Church believe she is extremely
special and we all love her very much |

| God has blessed our family with seven
wonderful children, the last four being adopted. After we had adopted our first
baby (number four overall), I felt a desire and a burden to become a foster
parent at some point in the future. At the time, I was working full time
outside the home, and there did not seem any way, given the financial demands of
a large family, that I would ever be able to stay home and fulfill this dream.
But God is faithful to the burdens he lays upon our hearts, and at just the
right time he opened the door for me to indeed be able to stay at home. My
hopes to become a foster mom were given new life. |

| n December of 2006, my husband Mike and I were
licensed as foster parents in the state of Florida. We were licensed
to work with an adoption agency named A Chosen Child, and more
specifically, to work with a ministry within that agency called Jeremiah’s
Child. |

| What a joy and a blessing this
ministry has been for me. I have always had a deep love for little ones; when I
was a teenager, all of my friends knew me as the girl who said she wanted
100-kids. As of now, the Lord has blessed me with three biological children,
four adopted children, and, as of last count, seventeen foster children. So,
given enough time, I might make it to 100-kids after all. |
| |
| I love each and every one of them with a love
that only God can provide. There have been periods during the last
three years when there were no foster babies in the house; and if I had
not had my little darling 2-year old Elijah to love on I would have been
lost. God gives both my husband and I a special grace of love for
each one of these children, even as if they were one of our own,
permanently welded to our family. But even with that, God has given
us a burden to diligently share with each of them the love of Christ
before they move on (ever so quickly) to their next stage in life, be it
with an adoptive family, or to be reunited with their birth parent(s). |
| |
| When we first became foster parents,
we joined ourselves to the ministry Jeremiah’s Child. Jeremiah’s Child’s
charter is to reach out to women who are unable to care for their children for
the short to medium time frame because they are either incarcerated, or
suffering from a debilitating medical condition. This is such a unique
ministry, and it encountered equally unique obstacles and challenges in getting
it running and accepted. While we were waiting, we took in babies that needed
cradle care while the formalities that go along with most adoptions were
hurdled. But finally, in September of 2008, the first baby that will be served
by Jeremiah’s Child was born and placed in our home. It is the culmination of
years of faithful praying and diligent working by many, and now we can not only
reach out with the love of God to the little children, but to the Mother’s and
the families of the little children as well. |
| |
| God’s timing is perfect and God’s grace is
abundant. |
| |
| When our Lord brings this ministry to your mind,
please pray for these children – that God will create a Christian home for
them to grow up in; please pray for their mothers – that God will give
them free access to his grace and his forgiveness; and please pray for us
– that God will continue to give us strength and joy in serving him, and
in serving these “little ones’ that he places in our arms. |
